Doing this builds the confidence of other people so that they know that they can achieve more than they previously believed they could do. It’s the belief by you as their leader in what they can achieve, that inspires them to perform even better.
Managers are inclined to hold people back, by not sharing information with them, by not allowing them to do things that might then reflect poorly on the managers skills.
